About the Institute

Alaska Cryptozoology Institute
The Alaska Cryptozoology Institute is dedicated to ongoing research of cryptids particular to Alaska.  The Institute will provide some information on cryptids around the world so that they can be compared to Alaskan cryptids. As of now the institute is run by just two young Alaskan cryptozoologist who take the subject of cryptozoology very seriously.

Research

The institute gathers information about Alaskan cryptids from a variety of books, films, websites, and people. In addition to providing information about Alaskan cryptids, the institute also uses scientific knowledge and logical inquiry to address the likelihood of the existence of certain cryptids. The information we gather is synthesized into informative pages on this blog.

Expeditions

Members of the institute go on a few expeditions every year. The purpose of these expeditions is to examine an environment in Alaska to deterime how a certain cryptid might survive in it, and to find solid evidence of the existence of a certain cryptid. All expeditions will be written about on this page.

What is Cryptozoology? What is a Cryptid?

The word cryptozoology is a combination two words: kryptos meaning hidden, and the word zoology meaning; the study of animals. Cryptozoology is literally the study of hidden animals or in other words, the study of creatures who's existence has not been scientifically proven. Cryptozoologists study and try to prove the existence of cryptids. Cryptids are creatures who's existance has not been scientifically proven. Cryptids are usually large creatures and not tiny microbes or insects. Bigfoot and The Lockness Monster are both examples of Cryptids. Cryptozoology is a pusedosicence and has been criticized because it does not fallow the scientific method but it is still a fascinating and thrilling subject.

Why Cryptozoology?

Why study a subject that involves the study of creatures that might not even exist? I have a few answers to that question.
1.  Some cryptids are worth investigating. There is so much evidence to support the existence of Bigfoot including DNA evidence, footprints, amazing encounters people have had throughout history, north american native legends, and much more. In the case of Bigfoot it is clear that there is some creature in the woods of north america..
2. Cryptozoology is fun. Learning about strange and bizarre creatures that my or may not exist invokes a thrilling sense of wonder and mystery regardless of wether or not such creatures are real.
3. Cryptozoology involves learning lot's of other sciences. In my studies of Alaskan cryptids I will also study the various habitats and ecosystems in Alaska to determine the likelihood of the existence of certain cryptids, this will require me to have an understanding of ecology.

Help us Out

You can help improve this blog by just viewing it and reading the fascinating information the institute puts on this blog. Your page-views will encourage The Alaska Cryptozoology Institute to continue it's investegations. Also feel free to post comments about what you know about cryptids. Please make friendly comments, we do not want any rude or unnecessary comments on this blog. With your help major discoveries could be made in the wonderful field of cryptozoology!

I Love researching cryptids and many people have complimented my writing skills. Although I often write on this blog as fun hobby, this blog is also part of a school project I'm doing. I hope readers will enjoy this blog as much as I have enjoyed blogging.

Knik River Expedition

DATE: Dec. 30, 2013

LOCATION:  Jim Creek on Knik River

CONDITIONS: -4, last snowfall 6 days, daylight

RESEARCHERS:  Tobyn, Zephan

CREW:  Linnea, Wendy, Simon, Tyler, Cindy, Petey, Jana

FINDINGS: possible tree limb breaking and trunk markings Wood tapping replies, call reply.

NOTES:  plan expedition on south side of Knik River.

The call reply that we heard that we think came from a Big Foot fascinated all of us.  As soon as I heard it, it reminded me of the recording below, taken in 1971 in Washington state. I am almost certain it is the same call.

Report by: Tobyn Sky

Report by: Zephan O

Location: Matenuska Peak Trail.

Date: March 26th

Time: 2:00-

Conditions: Very snowy after several weeks of no snow. It must have snowed at lest a foot or so that day.

Findings: One 12-20 foot long log lodges in-between the boughs of a spruce tree. We believe it may have been caused by a Bigfoot trying to mark its territory.

Notes: Lots of moose sings in the area. Moose can provide a Bigfoot with a food source.

  1. I'd like to know more about the Steller sea ape. Does the Institute have more information?

    1. i've told you most of what there is to know about the sea ape. Stellers sighting is still the evidence of the creature that I have seen on the internet so I think there is not much more the institute can tell you.
